Further out: places, parking and rules
Kokilavan, Kamyavan and the Holi grounds: add-ons for a longer Braj yatra.
Beyond the main circuit lie Kokilavan Shani Dham (on NH19 near Kosi, a good stop on the way to or from Delhi), the twelve-forest region of Kamyavan (Kaman, Rajasthan), and the Holi grounds of Barsana and Nandgaon for the spring festival.
From Mathura Junction: Kokilavan about 50 km; Kamyavan about 80 km. Best time: Winter weekdays. How long: Kokilavan: 1 to 1.5 hours as a Delhi-road stop. Kamyavan: half a day.
Parking and vehicle rules in Further out
- Kokilavan has a large parking area, but Saturdays and Shani Amavasya are very crowded
- Kamyavan is in Rajasthan with narrow town roads. Check locally
- For Holi, see the Barsana and Nandgaon rules: designated lots only
Getting around
- A cab is the only practical option
- Plan full-day trips
Local food of Further out
Away from the main towns, food means highway dhabas on NH19 near Kosi. Heera Foods, opposite the CNG station on the Delhi-Mathura highway, is a listed veg thali stop for the road in from Delhi. Kaman has only village stalls as far as we know. Carry water and snacks, and check locally.
Named eateries are listed on each place page with sources.
