Flights
Air Mauritius resumed direct flights to Delhi in May 2023, twice a week by the schedule at that time, and reported about 7 hours 30 minutes in the air. The airline also flies to Mumbai, with six flights a week reported, and from Mumbai a domestic hop reaches Delhi. These are 2023 reports, so check the current timetable before booking.
Time zone
India is 1.5 hours ahead of Mauritius all year, so jet lag hardly exists. The Mauritius flight reaches Delhi in the morning, which means you can be in Vrindavan by afternoon.
Entry: e-Visa, OCI and old PIO cards
The sources we found disagree on what Mauritian passport holders need, so please read the official Indian government pages before you pay anyone. The e-Visa portal is indianvisaonline.gov.in, and the High Commission of India in Port Louis can answer questions.
Many Mauritians are of Indian origin. The PIO card scheme was merged into OCI in 2015, and the old PIO cards were valid for travel only until 31 December 2025 according to Wikipedia. If you hold an old PIO card, convert it to OCI through the official OCI site. An OCI card must be carried with your passport.
What Mauritius searches for
Mauritius is the one market where we saw people type taxi fare and cab price questions: Vrindavan to Delhi cab, Delhi to Vrindavan taxi fare. Interest runs from September to January. So we show the airport fare plainly in the price box below and confirm it again on WhatsApp.
Seasons, and your first days
- Braj is cool from October to March, when Mauritius is warm. This is a lovely time.
- Kartik, from late October into November, suits devotees who want to see lamps on the ghats.
- Land, rest at Laladham, eat satvik food, begin darshan on the second day.
- Visit Govardhan and Barsana with a guide who tells the leelas.
Health, food and water
Mauritian travellers will find Braj food familiar in spirit, but the spice and the water are different. Drink bottled or filtered water, ease into rich sweets, and rest in the afternoon. If an elder is travelling, tell us beforehand so we can plan closer drop points and slower days.
Before or after Braj
Arriving in Mumbai first lets you add a night there before a domestic flight or train to Delhi, and then the cab to Vrindavan. If you arrive direct in Delhi, your room will be ready by afternoon. Return the same way, and leave the airport drop with a wide margin.
