ब्रह्मांड घाट

Brahmand Ghat

Where little Krishna ate mud and his mother saw the whole universe in his mouth.

GhatGokul, Mahavan and BaldeoKrishna, Yashoda

The story: The universe in a child's mouth

The cowherd boys complained to Yashoda that Krishna had eaten mud. She scolded him and asked him to open his mouth. Inside she saw the sky, the stars, the oceans, the mountains, the continents and all of the living beings, including Gokul itself and herself, standing by the child's side.

She was dizzy with wonder. Then, by Krishna's yogamaya, she forgot it all and held her child on her lap again. The Bhagavatam tells this in Srimad Bhagavatam 10.8.32 to 10.8.45. The ghat is named for brahmanda, 'the universe'.

It is a lesson for us as well: the Lord is both the vast cosmos and a child you can scold. lala:Cab's way follows that: see the greatness, then serve with simple love.
