By road
Sources vary on the exact figure: one route site gives about 65 km, another about 66 km via SH-80, and a cab-booking site about 77 km. The difference depends on where in Aligarh you start and whether you pass through Hathras or take the Khair side.
Everyone agrees on the time. A cab drive is comfortably under two hours outside peak market hours. Leave before the Marris Road and Sasni Gate traffic builds up, and the rest is open country.
Why not the train
I could not confirm a clean direct passenger or MEMU service between Aligarh Junction and Mathura Junction. Aligarh lies on the Delhi to Howrah main line, which runs towards Tundla, not Mathura. Mathura Junction itself sits on the Agra chord from Delhi.
The usual workaround is a change at Tundla or Agra, which adds waiting time and another platform. A cab is faster door to door and avoids the lottery of connections.
A single-day yatra
- Leave by seven. You reach Vrindavan before nine.
- Banke Bihari, then Prem Mandir and ISKCON in the late morning.
- Lunch at a satvik restaurant, then Mathura: Janmasthan, Dwarkadhish and an evening aarti at Vishram Ghat.
- Drive back after dinner, home by ten.
When to stay
Because the trip is so easy, people often forget that it is the stay that makes the yatra. A night at Laladham gives you mangala aarti and a slow morning. Add Govardhan on day two and you have seen the Braj core with no stress.
The Aligarh pilgrim
Aligarh families often combine a Braj trip with a visit to Hathras, Sadabad or Gokul, which fall along the same road. We can route you past Gokul, Raval and Mahavan, so the drive itself becomes darshan.
Students at AMU and nearby colleges also visit, usually in groups. We help with a tempo traveller and a budget-friendly itinerary.
Hathras, Sadabad and Gokul along the way
The road from Aligarh runs through the northern edge of Braj. You can break the drive at Sadabad or Mahavan and still reach Vrindavan by noon. Gokul, with its Nand ghat and the old temples near the Yamuna, is a gentle first stop for people who have never done a yatra before.
Hathras is better known for its railway junction than for temples, so use it for tea, not sightseeing.
Student and family groups
The Aligarh belt has both large joint families and student clubs. For groups of ten or more we plan a tempo traveller with a fixed pickup and a lunch break at a clean satvik place. A guide who keeps the story short and clear works better than a long lecture at every stop.
- Exact road distance from your area (65 to 77 km quoted)
- Whether any direct Aligarh to Mathura train runs now (none confirmed)
- Flood or construction diversions on the day
