From London to Braj: a gentle week from the UK

Flights to Delhi

Nonstop services run from London Heathrow to Delhi, with British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Air India named by the sources we checked. Time varies by carrier: about 8.5 to 9 hours on BA and Virgin and 10 hours or more on others, and it also depends on the route and the winds. Book with a buffer day at either end if you can.

Jet lag is mild from the UK

India is 4.5 hours ahead of London in British summer time and 5.5 hours ahead in winter. That is mild, and many guests are up for the first aarti on the second morning. An overnight flight from London usually lands in the early morning in Delhi, so you can be in Vrindavan before lunch.

Visa and OCI

British passport holders normally apply for an Indian e-Visa online. Use the official government portal, apply several days before you fly, and keep the passport valid for at least six months. If you have Indian roots, an OCI card spares you the visa for life. Rules change, so read the official page the week you book.

What the UK searches for

British searches are flatter through the year than American ones, with a small rise from October to January. After the place name, the top searches were ISKCON Vrindavan, Barsana, and MVT Guest House. People also look up the distance from Delhi to Vrindavan before anything else, which tells us they are working out the journey.

It suits a winter plan: Delhi in cool sunshine, Braj with soft mornings, and a return before the new term.

Health, food and water

Treat water with care: bottled or filtered only, and brush your teeth with it. A British winter coat is too heavy for Braj, where noon is mild and nights are cold, so layers work best. Carry rehydration salts, plasters for new sandals, and any regular medicine. Check with your travel clinic about vaccines well before you fly.

Before or after Braj

If you have time, Delhi gives a gentle first night after a morning landing, and the Taj Mahal is a day trip from Vrindavan. Families often keep a last night in Delhi so that the return flight is never rushed. We can book the airport drop to match your flight and leave six hours in hand.
