Govardhan: places, parking and rules
The hill Krishna lifted. A 21 km walk of devotion with kunds at every turn.
Govardhan is the hill of the umbrella lila. The parikrama of about 21 km passes the great sites: Daan Ghati, Mansi Ganga, Radha Kund, Shyam Kund, Kusum Sarovar, Jatipura and Punchari. Most visitors do part of it, or the whole circuit by e-rickshaw.
From Mathura Junction: About 22 to 26 km, 45 to 60 minutes. Best time: October to February. Start at dawn. How long: Half a day to a full day depending on how much of the parikrama you do.

Local food of Govardhan
The Govardhan listings come from a low-trust directory, so every name is a lead. The food story is Annakut, the day after Diwali, when mountains of food recall Krishna lifting the hill, and chhappan bhog, which tradition explains as seven days of fasting multiplied by eight daily meals. Boondi laddoo and dry fruit are the pilgrim snacks on the parikrama. Night parikrama has few open places, so eat before you start.
Named eateries are listed on each place page with sources.
