Punchari ka Lautha

The 'tail' of Giriraj and the shrine of Lautha Baba, the friend who stayed behind.

TempleGovardhanPunchari ka Lautha (Lautha Baba)

The story: The friend who waits at the tail of Giriraj

Local tradition says that Giriraj lies like a peacock or a cow, with Mansi Ganga at the neck and Radha Kund at the mouth, and Punchari at the tail (puchh). Lautha was a friend of Krishna who stayed here, sitting at the tail, when Krishna left Braj for Dwarka. People bring offerings and ask Lautha to keep their prayers waiting for Krishna's return.

This is entirely local. It is not in the Bhagavatam. Treat it as folk faith: part of the way Braj people keep Krishna close even when the stories end.
