From Sydney or Melbourne to Vrindavan: a stay-first trip

About 12 to 13 hr flights4.5 to 5.5 hr ahead of India's timePrices in AUD

Australians who search for Vrindavan are mostly looking for a place to sleep. The top searches are MVT Guest House, Vrindavan hotels and places to stay. We start from that, and make the stay the heart of the plan.

Flights

Air India and Qantas have been reported to fly Delhi to Sydney and Melbourne without a stop. Sources give about 12 hours 50 minutes for Sydney and about 13 hours for Melbourne. The Qantas Melbourne service has been seasonal, and we could not find a Perth nonstop, so check the timetable for your own date.

Time zones, and a kind jet lag

Sydney and Melbourne are ahead of India by 4.5 hours in winter and 5.5 hours in summer time. You fly west, so the clock goes back and sleep returns quickly. Perth is closer still. A single easy day will do.

Visa and OCI

Australia is on the e-Visa nationality list of the reference page we checked. Apply on the official portal only, and keep the passport valid for at least six months. Indian-origin families may prefer OCI, and OCI holders pay local rates at monuments like the Taj, according to the Taj Mahal site.

Choosing where to stay

Australian interest peaks from October to January, when southern summer holidays begin and Braj is cool. That is also when the ISKCON guest house and MVT fill. We keep Laladham near ISKCON and Prem Mandir with home-cooked sattvik meals, and we help you book MVT ahead if your heart is set on it.

Our research found that people from Australia look at stays first and tours second, and rarely hire a cab until later. We expect that and message you only when you ask.

A plan around the stay

  • Two nights in Vrindavan before any long outing.
  • A guide for the temples, so the stories are told in English.
  • One full day for Govardhan and Radha Kund.
  • Barsana and Nandgaon for one morning.
  • A final day for the Taj, if you wish.
Late December has cold nights. Pack a shawl.

Health, food and water

Australian visitors are used to clean water from the tap, so the difference is a shock. Use bottled or filtered water, including for teeth. Pack sunscreen, a hat and insect repellent, and a light jacket for winter evenings. If you take regular medicine, carry it in its original box with the prescription.

Before or after Braj

A long flight is worth more than three nights, so many Australians stay a week or add a second stop. Delhi, Agra and Jaipur are the usual neighbours. We can plan the cab for Braj and the onward journey to Agra, and leave the rest of the route to you.

One WhatsApp, before you book flights

If your dates are flexible, ask us before you buy tickets. We tell you which weeks are crowded, which are calm, and when the two largest guest houses usually fill. Then you choose flights with that knowledge, and we confirm the stay and cab.

Check locally
  • Current Air India and Qantas schedules to Delhi; the Melbourne service has been seasonal and Perth could not be confirmed.
  • Australian e-Visa eligibility and fees on the official portal.
