The Royal Braj (Harshika Complex, opposite Gate 5 of Prem Mandir, Chhatikara Road)
Fine-dining sattvik vegetarian
A white marble temple that tells the Govardhan and Rasa stories in stone, glowing at night.

The first-floor galleries of Prem Mandir carve the story that every Braj child knows. The people of Braj were about to offer their annual worship to Indra. Young Krishna told them that their real shelter was the hill Govardhan, which fed their cows. Indra, angry, sent seven days of storm. Krishna lifted the hill on the little finger of his left hand and the whole village, with cows and calves, stood beneath it.
The Bhagavatam tells it in two chapters (Srimad Bhagavatam 10.24 and 10.25). The message is a very gentle one: protection comes not from a loud power but from love and humility. The temple's other galleries show the Rasa Lila, Krishna's meeting with Kubja and scenes of Krishna's childhood.
At night, under changing lights, the marble turns pink, blue and green, and the whole compound looks like a stage set for the Divine. Many visitors say the evening here is the best of the day.
