The distance, by starting point
- Central Delhi (Connaught Place): about 150 to 160 km.
- Delhi Airport (IGI, Terminal 3): about 170 km.
- Noida and Greater Noida: about 130 to 140 km, mostly on the Yamuna Expressway.
- Gurugram: about 150 km via NH19.
- Mathura to Vrindavan: 12 km.
By taxi: the easiest way
A cab is the simplest option, especially with luggage, elders or children. The route uses the Yamuna Expressway or NH19. Stops for tea are easy to add. A pre-booked driver from the Delhi airport also solves the biggest worry, which is finding your ride after a long flight.
By train
Mathura Junction, 12 km from Vrindavan, is on the main Delhi to Agra line, and faster trains take about 1.5 to 2.5 hours from Delhi stations. Check IRCTC for the day's schedule. Vrindavan has its own small station, with fewer trains. From Mathura station, a cab to Vrindavan takes about 30 minutes.
By bus
Buses run from Delhi's ISBT Kashmere Gate and Anand Vihar to Mathura and Vrindavan, usually 3.5 to 4.5 hours depending on traffic. They are cheap, but crowded and with set stops, so they suit light travellers more than families with bags.
By air
The practical gateway is Delhi's IGI airport. Other airports near Braj exist, such as Agra, but have few flights, and the new airport at Jewar near Noida may also bring options as flights begin. Check the airline schedule before you plan around either. We can pick you up at any of them.
