Govardhan parikrama guide

Distance, timing, rules of the path and how to do the parikrama comfortably, on foot or by vehicle.

The Govardhan parikrama is commonly described as about 21 km around the hill. On foot, most people take 6 to 8 hours with rests. Many do it barefoot, as a vow, starting from Mansi Ganga.

If walking, begin before dawn or in the late afternoon. Carry water, a cap and a small towel. Winter nights are popular and cool, but the path is dark in places, so bring a torch.

If you cannot walk the whole way, a vehicle parikrama is a respectful option for elders and children. Your driver can take you to the main stops while the family rests in the car between them.

Keep to the path, avoid littering, and follow the customs of each stop. Radhe Radhe is the usual greeting along the way, and you will hear it often.

Planning your yatra? Radhe Radhe.

Fixed fares, Braj-local drivers and a warm stay at Laladham.
